Monday, 10 November 2008

On the 28th of October, as a part of the Community Partners Program (CPP), the Macedonian Community Welfare Association conducted a Cultural Briefing for the staff of Amity, an aged care facility in Thomastown. This presentation was to educate the staff on how to work with people that are of Macedonian background and descent. Personnel and management of Amity were present at this educative session. The aim of this informative session was to familiarise employees with different aspects of the Macedonian culture, tradition, religion and migration, as well as barriers that are associated with those that are of Macedonian descent. The presentation was highly successful, with many questions asked by the employees, and discussions of a further working relationship and partnership with the organization in the future. The project coordinator also received an invitation to conduct another cultural briefing at the Meadow Glen Aged Care Facility.
