Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) worked in partnership with Macedonian Community Welfare Association (MCWA) to develop a culturally and linguistically appropriate Macedonian Diabetes Education Package.

The Package contains a variety of teaching and learning resources including guidelines for staff using the materials, bilingual information sheets, flip chart, audio-tape and CD. It was designed and developed to address the individual learning styles and needs of individuals in order to self-manage their diabetes.

The Macedonian Diabetes Education Package was awarded the 2006 Lilly "Innovation Award" at the Australian Diabetes Society / Australian Diabetes Educators Association National Conference.
